Isolated ocular flutter.

A previously healthy 30-year-old man presented with gradually worsening oscillopsia 2 weeks after an unusual headache; there was ocular flutter on examination (video on the Neurology® Web site at www.neurology.org) without other findings. Brain MRI was unremarkable. CSF showed mild pleocytosis (11 cells/mm), but no evidence of active viral infections (herpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus, vari...

Parainfectious Ocular Flutter and Truncal Ataxia in Association with Dengue Fever

Voluntary saccadic oscillations, resembling ocular flutter and opsoclonus.

Two human subjects, who had no signs of other neurologic disorders, produced large amplitude, to-and-fro saccadic oscillations. One subject generated these oscillations intentionally. Eye movement recordings by DC electro-oculography and/or magnetic scleral search coil showed that the movements were bursts of conjugate saccades in opposing directions with no intersaccadic intervals. They were m...

Ocular flutter as the first manifestation of Lyme disease.

A 33-year-old man with a history of tick bites presented with bursts of involuntary horizontal conjugate saccades, myoclonic head jerks, and truncal ataxia. Despite negative serum antibodies for Borrelia burgdorferi, acute neuroborreliosis was suspected because of lymphocytic mild meningitis (19 wh...
